Aventis PHARMACEUTICALS SELECTS SCITEGIC'S PIPELINE PILOT FOR GLOBAL CHEMINFORMATICS APPLICATIONS For Immediate Release: SAN DIEGO, CA April 15, 2002 - SciTegicTM, Inc. today announced the sale and installation of Pipeline PilotTM at Aventis Pharmaceuticals. This software system employs a novel approach to processing drug discovery data through flexible automated pipelines for faster data processing and analysis. The result of a collaborative global licensing deal, Pipeline Pilot is now being used by Aventis scientists around the world to accelerate their informatics research. "Aventis is setting a strategic collaboration with SciTegic at the enterprise level and we are extremely excited about Pipeline Pilot," said Abdel Laoui, Ph.D., US Head of Chemoinformatics, Aventis Pharmaceuticals. "It greatly reduces the complexity and amount of code that a developer must write, provides a rich set of components for common data processing/analysis operations, and enables re-use of novel components by other users which foresee knowledge sharing. The resulting global platform will lead to a simplification of the method development process, and also greatly speed up the process of data analysis." "Aventis has extraordinary cheminformatics resources and they have become a great partner for us. Their adoption of Pipeline Pilot for enterprise deployment is an excellent endorsement for us," said Mathew Hahn, president and CEO of SciTegic. "Pipeline Pilot users will be able to make better use of their research data, benefiting from performance and flexibility advantages over conventional informatics technologies."
