Palo Alto, Calif. - Wilson Sonsini Goodrich &

office in San Diego. The office, the firm's first in Southern
California, will offer a full spectrum of legal
services including
biotechnology, intellectual property, and corporate law, as well as
litigation. Initially, five new partners and one who relocated from the
Palo Alto headquarters will be based in the San Diego office, along with

"We have been serving the Southern California market for years, and this
move further cements our commitment to the area," said Chairman and CEO
Larry Sonsini. "San Diego is an attractive market that represents
significant opportunity with nearly 150 public and hundreds of
venture-backed private companies locally. The life sciences industry
comprises approximately 30 percent of the public companies and 50
percent of private companies. There are also tremendous opportunities in
technology areas such as computer software and services, computer
hardware, electronics, and communications and networking. Our strong and
experienced team will provide the bridge between Southern California and
Silicon Valley that many local companies, entrepreneurs, and investors
have been seeking."
