SciQuest Announces the Release of Enterprise Reagent Manager Version 4.4

Enhanced reporting and purchasing gateway functionality designed to increase researcher productivity while optimizing environmental health and safety compliance

21-May-2002

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., May 16, 2002 (BW HealthWire) -- SciQuest, Inc., a software, information and services company that provides solutions to enhance research operations for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other research-based organizations, announced today the release of SciQuest Enterprise Reagent Manager(TM) (ERM) version 4.4 designed to maximize ERM's reporting, purchasing and inventory control capabilities.

SciQuest ERM is a laboratory chemical management system offering selection, requisitioning, inventory management and health and safety management, used by research scientists, health and safety officers, facilities/stockroom and purchasing/receiving personnel. ERM provides scientists with browser-based capabilities to select, source, procure and use chemical reagents and other research materials they need directly from their desktops. ERM reduces the cost of managing chemical inventory and automates EH&S chemical approval programs, worker safety programs, regulatory tracking and reporting.

"We have worked together with our clients to provide the functionality in our ERM 4.4 release that will be most effective in supporting our clients' efforts to manage their chemical inventories and streamline their research supply-chain processes," said Terry Graber, Senior Product Director. "This release features additional reporting and purchasing gateway capabilities while strengthening ERM's environmental health and safety module. It also provides a new external catalog interface to enable our clients to integrate ERM with existing internal inventory systems, along with other enhancements. We are pleased with our 4.4 release of ERM and we will continue to work in concert with our clients to add the type of functionally that will best serve the laboratory research community."

Some of the enhancements included in the SciQuest ERM Version 4.4 release are:

-- Report module has been introduced. The Report module provides customizable reports, plus a read-only version of the ERM database, and simplified views of the database tables, which streamline the creation and customization of reports. -- Purchasing Gateway module has been introduced. The Purchasing Gateway allows customers to integrate ERM with an existing purchasing software installation. -- Health and Safety Clearance Limits have been enhanced. EH&S Clearance Limits can now be established for control zones (sets of rooms) and are calculated based upon the sum of all chemicals on configured lists of chemicals. -- Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Integration module has been introduced. The LDAP Integration module enables customers to integrate ERM with their LDAP system enabling centralized management of passwords, permissions, email addresses, phone numbers and other important user information within their LDAP system. -- External Catalog Interface module has been introduced. The External Catalog Interface enables customers to integrate ERM with existing internal inventory systems or other chemical catalogs or systems. -- Inventory Quantity history has been enhanced to record minimum, maximum and ending amounts of each chemical on site. The quantity levels are tracked at all levels (Room, Control Zone, Floor, Building, and Site) and are tracked by total quantity and broken down by physical state (solid, liquid, gas, and liquefied gas).

"We share the excitement that the ERM 4.4 release is generating among our customers and prospects. ERM 4.4 is another example of SciQuest's ongoing commitment to offer enterprise-level and domain-specific solutions that help scientific organizations enhance their research capabilities," said Jamie Duke, Vice President of Products, Operations and Strategy for SciQuest. "ERM 4.4 is a major step forward in our efforts to be the leading provider of research supply chain solutions to the global scientific marketplace."
