QSV Biologics Ltd announced the appointment of Dr. William Cochrane O.C., M.D., as Chairman of its Board of Directors.

Dr. Cochrane's career accomplishments encompass the fields of medicine, biomedical research, education, government and business, spanning Canada, the U.K. and U.S.A. Following a successful tenure with Dalhousie Medical School where he was involved with the building of the I.W. Killam Hospital for Children, he became the founding Dean of Medicine for the University of Calgary. From here he was seconded by Peter Lougheed's government as Deputy Minister of Health Services for the Government of Alberta, subsequently returning to become the President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Calgary.

Following this, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Connaught Laboratories Ltd. Dr. Cochrane has shared his expertise and leadership with a number of organizations including, Monsanto Canada, Fluor-Daniel Canada, MDS Capital, and many private sector ventures and non-profit organizations. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1989 and holds numerous other honours, including a National Merit Award for his contribution to biotechnology in Canada. In 2005, the Alberta Medical Association named Dr. Cochrane one of Alberta's "Physicians of the Century", and in 2008 he was inducted in to the BioAlberta Bioindustry Hall of Fame.
