Gentra Systems and Hitachi Software Subsidiary, MiraiBio, Join Forces In United States, Central and South America

Agreement Benefits More Than 2,000 Labs Through Combined Expertise in Nucleic Acid Purification and Genetic Analysis Markets

Gentra Systems, Inc. and MiraiBio, Inc. (a subsidiary of Hitachi software Engineering, Co., Ltd.), announced today that they have entered into a multi-year agreement that appoints MiraiBio as a distributor of Gentra's AUTOPURE LS(R) Automated Large Sample Nucleic acid purification System and related consumables. This agreement will address the sample preparation requirements for customers of MiraiBio in the United States and certain other territories within the Americas. For those customers desiring manual preparation of samples, MiraiBio will recommend Gentra's complete line of chemistry products including its market-leading PUREGENE(R) DNA Purification Kits. "Labs from around the world will benefit from the combined expertise of Gentra with MiraiBio's portfolio of sophisticated downstream analytical products," said Ruth Shuman, Ph.D., President and CEO of Gentra. Gentra is the developer and manufacturer of the AUTOPURE LS, the first high-throughput DNA purification platform of its kind, and PUREGENE, a leading, high-quality chemistry used commonly in gene discovery, clinical, clinical research, and biorepository laboratories. MiraiBio's President and CEO, Leonard Klevan, Ph.D., stated, "With the addition of AUTOPURE LS to our product line, we have added leading, front-end automation to our line up of microarray and image analysis products. In particular, the AUTOPURE LS will increase the versatility of our integrated product offering for the Luminex(R) Liquid Array System and MasterPlex(TM) Analysis Software for multiplexed genomic and proteomic assay applications." The companies intend to explore additional market opportunities to leverage their respective technologies and competencies through development of the next generation of innovative instrumentation and sample preparation reagents based on Gentra and MiraiBio technologies.
