06-Feb-2012 - Germany

Dr. Stefan Arnold is the new Chief Scientific Officer and member of the executive board at instrAction GmbH Ludwigshafen. In this function, he is responsible for product development and manufacture of novel agent-specific (both chemical and biological active ingredients and agents) affinity matrices as well as implementation of such matrices in (bio-) pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

He received his Ph.D. in Physiological Chemistry from the Theodor-Boveri-Institute, Würzburg in 1994 and holds a Diploma in Chemistry of the University of Würzburg, Germany.

Dr. Arnold operated as Head of Down Stream Processing from 1999 -2000 at Merckle GmbH, Ulm. Until the end of 2011 he was employed as Head of Process Development, Project Valuation and executive Project Manager for several biopharmaceuticals at BioGeneriX AG, which he co-founded in 2000.

“We are very pleased that we could win Dr. Arnold for the position of the CSO. His large professional experience, particularly with regard to the field of development and registration of pharmaceutical proteins is invaluable for the further development of the instrAction company. We have now completed our management team with him and we complete the restructuring process,” said Dr. Thomas Schwarz, CEO of the instrAction company.

He is author of numerous scientific publications and holds patents in the biopharmaceutical field and member of the advisory board of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim.

His statement to instrAction: “The instrAction technology® provides various additional promising development opportunities in bio-chromatography which lacked real innovation during the last decade when compared to the proceedings in expression and fermentation technologies.”
