The „Deutsche Umweltpreis“ 2008 of the German „Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt“ (DBU) is awarded to Dr. Holger Zinke, CEO of German BRAIN AG in Zwingenberg. The hessian entrepreneur and pioneer within industrial biotechnology segment will receive one half of the within Europe most lucrative environmental prize, worth 500.000 euros, in the Rostock Town Hall on 26 October. It will be presented by German President Horst Köhler. With the “Deutschen Umweltpreis” the DBU recognizes the achievements of Dr. Holger Zinke and his company BRAIN AG, built up by the entrepreneur.

“For industrial or “white” biotechnology , defined as the use of the natures toolbox for industrial applications, helps save energy and materials, eases the burden on finite resources, protects the environment and improves the economic value added. The manifold fields of application and the spectrum of methods offered by this technology make it a key cross-industrial technology that helps to achieve sustainable development”, Dr. Fritz Brickwedde, secretary general of DBU said. “Dr. Zinke represents a type of modern, innovative entrepreneur in a pioneering branch of industry, who combines in his person inventiveness, commitment, creativity and assertiveness in an exemplary fashion“.
