Small companies found to be disadvantaged in protecting their patent rights

07-Sep-2004

Berlin (Germany) - Small companies with small patent portfolios are the most likely to be involved in court action over patent rights, according to a report in the current edition of the Bienentanz Buzz Letter on a recently published study, which is based on data about close to ten thousand US patents. The online newsletter points to the likely cause as well as to some of the many other findings of the study, such as the considerable differences in filing rates for companies in biotechnology, chemicals and drugs.

The "Bienentanz Buzz Letter" is a life science business newsletter that gets to the core of issues. Executives in pharma and biotech appreciate its focus on subjects that receive little attention elsewhere and its crisp style of writing. The Bienentanz Buzz Letter is published by the Berlin-based communications firm Bienentanz Gesellschaft für Kommunikation mbH and can be subscribed to free of charge on the firm's website (www.bienentanz.com).
