Boston Scientific Acquires Land in Netherlands for New Distribution Center

Site to serve European, Japanese and Inter-Continental markets

Natick, Mass. Boston Scientific Corporation announced that it has completed a land purchase in Kerkrade, the Netherlands. The site will house the Company's new distribution center, which will serve its European, Japanese and Inter- Continental markets. The Company's Inter-Continental markets are those outside the United States, Europe and Japan. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The purchase includes approximately 400,000 square feet of land with the potential for future expansion. The Company said it plans to construct a new 250,000 square-foot distribution center on the site. The new facility will be double the size of its current distribution center in Beek, the Netherlands. "Growth throughout the Company has resulted in the need to increase our distribution capacity," said Jim Taylor, Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations for Boston Scientific. "When complete, the new distribution center will allow us to double our current footprint to meet the growing demands of markets we serve outside the United States." The Company plans to begin construction of the new facility in the second quarter of 2004 and to complete construction by the second quarter of 2005. Kerkrade is 15 miles from Beek. The Kerkrade facility will replace the Beek facility.
