The analysis of single biological cells has been gaining importance rapidly over the last couple of years. Cytena’s single-cell printer (scp) is a laboratory device for handling and sorting single vital cells and represents an innovative tool for the life-science sector. Compared to competing technologies, the single-cell printer has many unique selling propositions. This method is fast and gentle even for the most sensitive cell types. The printing cartridge is designed as a single-use disposable, which eliminates the risk of cross-contamination. The low-dead-volume of the cartridge allows for use of small volumes and rare cell samples. The system stores images of each printed cell, which allows for post-analysis and provides assurance that exactly one single cell has been printed. This assurance of clonality is of major importance for clinical approval procedures in the pharmaceutical industry. Finally, the single-cell printer is automated and easy to use.

Dr. Andreas Gentner, Partner and Leader of Technology, Media & Telecommunications EMEA at Deloitte explains, “Again this year, companies applied with impressive innovations that are proactively shaping digitalization. We are delighted by these courageous entrepreneurs who are successful with their own technologies and ideas in the international market. We honor their engagement with the Fast 50 award and encourage the innovative strength of Germany as a location for business.” Dr. Jonas Schoendube, CEO and co-founder of Cytena appreciates the growth rate of Cytena’s revenues and declares: “We are very proud to accept this recognition by Deloitte for Cytena’s continuing growth in the name of the whole team. Cytena’s success is due to the joint effort of a growing team that shares our vision and collectively drives the innovative development of our technology and the expansion of our business internationally.”
