Sartorius Expertise for International Pharmaceutical Degree

Dr. Uwe Gottschalk, Sartorius AG, becomes a lecturer for the first accredited Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine in Essen; Germany

Sartorius expertise now offered at the University of Duisburg-Essen: Dr. Uwe Gottschalk, Vice President of Purification Technologies at Sartorius AG, has accepted a lecturer's position, in addition to his duties at Sartorius AG, for the first Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine. This internationally focused study program is a first that is accredited throughout Germany and is designed to qualify medical and scientific students for managerial positions in research, development, approvals and marketing of pharmaceuticals and medical products. Based in Goettingen, Germany, Dr. Gottschalk, a pharmaceutical expert, will manage the Biotechnology study module and lecture on the development and production aspects of biopharmaceutical products.

Dr. Uwe Gottschalk has been the Vice President of Purification Technologies at Sartorius AG since April 2004. Earlier, he worked at Bayer Health Care, and just before joining Sartorius, he headed the GMP Protein Purification unit. In addition to his sideline work as a lecturer at the University Duisburg-Essen, he also holds lectures at the polytechnical college Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. For six years, he has also been active as a volunteer at the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation on the university committee for awarding scholarships to students.

The lecturers of the Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine are from the pharmaceutical industry and health care institutes. Every two years, 25 students maximum are admitted to this program. The next college program will start in April 2007.
