CheMatch Transaction Volumes Surpass Five Million Metric Tons
HOUSTON CheMatch.com, an Internet-based market place and information resource for buying and selling commodity chemicals, polymers, feedstocks and fuel products, reported today that their Global Trading NetworkTM has surpassed five million metric tons in transaction volumes.
For the third quarter ended September 30, 2001, CheMatch transaction activity totaled approximately 1.2 million metric tons, achieving record volume for the tenth consecutive quarter. The company reported that the five million metric tons transacted since inception includes over four million metric tons traded on the CheMatch exchange and over one million metric tons transacted through the Company’s auction platform.
Larry McAfee, CheMatch’s President, commented, “Despite the recent downturn in the chemical industry, the volume transacted through CheMatch continues to grow. We have seen increases not only in spot trading activity, but also for multi-month strip transactions plus in over-the-counter derivatives.”
