CPhI South America Gains Traction
UBM Live, a division of UBM Plc, announced post-show details of CPhI South America which took place from 24–26 August at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Now in its fifth year, the pharmaceutical ingredients event attracted nearly 4,000 visits and more than 180 exhibitors which offered a high return on investment to both visitors and exhibitors, who were able to meet existing customers or suppliers and make new contacts in one convenient location.
"We are delighted that CPhI South America continues to gain traction in the South American market," says Annemieke Timmers, Global Brand Director. "South America is an increasingly important part of the global pharmaceutical market, and we believe the event is an invaluable way for South American and international companies to network and generate new business. As we build the brands in this region, we will continue to work to provide a comprehensive programme that will prove to offer growth to our attendees, as well."
The newest introduction was a structured Conference Series that attracted 150 senior level delegates from laboratories, government and API suppliers. The programme was opened by Dirceu Barbano, Director-President of the Brazilian government pharmaceutical authority ANVISA, and featured Presidents and Chief Executives from the country's most important laboratories and pharma associations. The biosimilars module proved particularly popular with delegates, highlighting the great market potential of these products for the future.
Popular returning features to CPhI South America included the ICSE Pavilion and the BioPh Trail. The ICSE Pavilion offered a dedicated area within the exhibition hall for companies whose business focuses on contract services and clinical trials. These sectors have proven increasingly important within the South American market, as growing numbers of multinational pharmaceutical companies are expanding their businesses within South America, and carrying out clinical trials there. The BioPh Trail was formatted to offer targeted biotechnology resources and enable small biotech and big pharma players to connect with each other.
