Cellomics Launches the KineticScan™ HCS Reader
May 22, 2002 PITTSBURGH, PA -- Cellomics, Inc., the market leader and pioneer of High Content Screening (HCS), announced today the launch of the KineticScan™ HCS Reader, a system optimized for studying the dynamics of living cells. The KineticScan™ HCS Reader includes validated biological applications, advanced control software, an integrated pipette system, a fast and continuous laser auto-focus device and an environmentally controlled chamber. These features not only enable the use of living cells in automated assays, but also provide the integrated automation and software to perform complex assays involving measurements of cellular events before and after the addition of compounds or reagents. Like the ArrayScan® HCS Reader, the KineticScan HCS Reader also enables the measurement of biological processes within numerous individual cells within a population, cellular processes that are routinely missed when analyzing aggregate cell population responses. Cellomics continues to provide researchers with innovative tools that reduce operator interaction and increase productivity by automatically executing complex protocols for cell analyses and now, with the KineticScan HCS Reader, sample preparation.
“The KineticScan HCS Reader will become the cornerstone for assay development, target validation, lead optimization and mechanistic investigations in drug discovery,” stated Dr. Jeffrey Haskins, VP of Assay Development. “It is the first and only automated HCS instrument that empowers researchers to kinetically profile populations of individual live cells.”
“The KineticScan HCS Reader combines on-board environmental control, an integrated liquid handling system and the capabilities of Cellomics’ HCS technology to facilitate the use of HCS assays for a broad range of live cell biological phenomena throughout an organization,” added Dr. Jason Bush, Commercial Manager for the KineticScan HCS Reader.
