In high-resolution mass spectrometry, mass accuracy, stability and flexibility are among the decisive factors - especially in demanding applications such as non-target analysis, lipidomics or metabolomics. The LCMS-9050 from Shimadzu addresses precisely these requirements with a combination of patented technologies that offer measurable advantages in everyday laboratory work.

Stable mass accuracy without continuous calibration effort

The LCMS-9050 is equipped with temperature control of the flight tube (UF-FlightTube™). This compensates for room fluctuations and keeps the mass accuracy stable over long measurement periods. In long-term measurements over 72 hours, the measurement error in both positive and negative ion mode remained within ±2 ppm - without a single recalibration. In addition, the system offers an input option for an internal calibration, which can further increase the accuracy.

Simultaneous data acquisition in positive and negative measurement mode

Thanks to patented UFstabilization™ technology and high-precision electrical circuitry, the LCMS-9050 enables ultra-fast polarity switching - a capability previously considered difficult to achieve with TOF systems. Analyses that previously had to be performed twice can now be completed in a single run. This saves resources, increases sample throughput and also improves the comparability of the data, as positive and negative ions are recorded under identical conditions and without a time delay. In addition, the LCMS-9050 achieves high measurement speeds, enabling both qualitative and quantitative statements to be made in just one run.

High flexibility provides answers to the most complex questions

The LCMS-9050 can be adapted to a wide range of analytical requirements thanks to a large number of optional components:

  • iMScope™ - MALDI imaging with optical microscopy for analyzing molecular distributions in tissue samples
  • OAD Radical Source I - state-of-the-art fragmentation technology (Oxygen Attachment Dissociation - OAD) for the determination of C=C double bond positions in e.g. lipids
  • Nexera Mikros™ - optimized for microflow rates with increased ionization efficiency for trace analysis
  • CLAM™ - fully automated sample preparation from blood and urine up to LC-MS/MS analysis
  • Nexera™ UC - supercritical fluid extraction and chromatography for the separation of even challenging analytes

Intuitive data evaluation with LabSolutions Insight Explore™

The associated evaluation software LabSolutions Insight Explore™ supports structure elucidation, library search and sum formula calculation in a clear workflow. Auto-tuning of instrument parameters - including mass accuracy, resolution and sensitivity - is performed directly from the LabSolutions™ platform, without the need for specific user expertise.
