The 4Cell® HEK293 media portfolio provides comprehensive solutions for human embryonic kidney cell cultivation in viral vector production, gene therapy applications, and recombinant protein manufacturing. These chemically defined, animal component-free formulations eliminate variability associated with serum-containing media while supporting robust cell growth and productivity.
The portfolio includes specialized variants optimized for different applications: HEK TF® medium designed specifically for transfection applications and virus production including AAV and lentivirus vectors, HEK GM® medium optimized for high-performance cultivation and stable protein production, and HEK ViP NX® and ViP NB® media engineered for viral vector manufacturing with enhanced transfection efficiency. All formulations are free of hydrolysates, proteins, and antibiotics.
Each medium requires supplementation with 6-8 mM L-Glutamine prior to use and supports inoculation densities of 2-5E5 cells/mL with routine passaging every three to four days when viable cell densities reach 1.5-4E6 cells/mL. The media demonstrate excellent performance in shake flask cultivation at 125-185 rpm and bioreactor systems with minimal adaptation requirements from other chemically defined media.
HEK FS_2® feed supplement enhances productivity in fed-batch processes by providing concentrated nutrients including 40 g/L D-Glucose plus additional sugar sources. The feed strategy extends culture duration and maintains cell viability during production phases for improved yields of viral vectors, recombinant proteins, and other biologics.
All 4Cell® HEK293 media are manufactured under ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality standards with lot-specific certificates of analysis. Available formats include liquid formulations in bottles (1 L) and bags (10-50 L), plus powder concentrates for large-scale preparation (10-500 L equivalents) to meet diverse operational requirements from laboratory research through commercial manufacturing.
