Cambrex Appoints Thomas Rohrer Director, Cell Culture Manufacturing

Cambrex , a leading Life Sciences company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Rohrer as Director, Cell Culture Manufacturing of its biopharmaceuticals business with responsibility for further positioning Cambrex as a manufacturer of mammalian cell culture products. Mr. Rohrer will be based in Maryland at Cambrex Bio Science Baltimore, Inc. where the company has produced a commercial recombinant Enzyme therapeutic. Currently this multi-product facility produces several potential protein therapeutics used in client-sponsored clinical trials.

Thomas Rohrer joins Cambrex with a wealth of experience in large-scale upstream, recovery and purification development of mammalian, yeast and bacterial expression systems. Most recently at Human Genome Sciences, Mr. Rohrer was Director of Fermentation and Mammalian Cell Culture Process Development. He has 23 years of process development/ clinical manufacturing and managerial experience. Prior to Human Genome Sciences, Mr. Rohrer was Senior Process Engineer, Upstream Process and Recovery Development at Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. in Rockville, MD. Mr. Rohrer's experience includes process scale-up; production and recovery of cytokines, growth factors, antibodies; and natural products for domestic and international pharmaceutical R&D using both prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems.
