trans-o-flex group focuses industry expertise on new pharmaceutical competence centre

Specialist for pharmaceutical logistics wants to expand knowledge lead, develop and implement new solutions

17-Oct-2012 - Germany

The trans-o-flex logistics Group extends its industry know-how in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry covering all business segments and has therefore established a pharmaceutical competence centre this month. “With this, we will broaden our service for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry which generates approximately 50% of the trans-o-flex turnover” says Oliver Rupps, CEO of the trans-o-flex Board of Directors. Tasks of the already appointed manager of the pharmacy competence centre, Markus O’Sullivan, will be to develop new, complex customer solutions from one source, which at the same time cohere with the demands of the market, the customers and specialised national and international industry regulations. “Competence in the development and integration of logistical solutions for the pharmaceutical industry from one source is a unique selling proposition of the trans-o-flex group” explains Kai Schmuck, managing director, who is responsible for the pharmacy competence centre. “Pharmaceutical competence is in all three business segments Schnell-Lieferdienst, ThermoMed and Logistik-Service integrated and shall be further interlinked in future.”

It is aspired to offer, beside the combination of Schnell-Lieferdienst and active temperature control through ThermoMed, a combinational offer of Schnell-Lieferdienst and Logistik-Service, for the import and export of pharmaceutical shipments for example. Specifically for this, new locations for contract logistics were and will be built. The active logistics centre in Hamburg pools inbound and outbound sea freight since May this year. In the Lower Franconian town of Alzenau, 30 minutes from Frankfurt airport, the ground-breaking ceremony for a new pharmacy competence centre with specialisation on transhipment and value added services for in- and outbound air freight has taken place in July. The initial operation is planned for January 2013. “The differentiation to other suppliers is that we not only develop the concepts but also take on the handling within Europe with coherent quality standards and a single contact for customers.”
