The Biostat STR® Microbial represents a breakthrough in single-use fermentation technology, combining the convenience of disposable systems with the robust performance traditionally associated with stainless steel fermenters. This advanced stirred-tank bioreactor supports working volumes from 11 to 40 L, making it ideal for late-stage process development and small-scale manufacturing of microbial products.

Engineered specifically for high-demanding microbial processes, the system excels in applications requiring intensive oxygen transfer and precise environmental control. The integrated Biobrain® automation platform delivers industrial-grade process supervision with comprehensive data logging and control capabilities. The unique control tower concept enables flexible configuration changes and standalone GMP operation, supporting regulatory compliance in clinical and commercial manufacturing.

The Flexsafe STR® Microbial bags are specifically designed to withstand the rigorous conditions of microbial fermentation, including high agitation rates up to 500 rpm and maximum gassing rates of 1.5 vvm. Advanced process engineering characterization demonstrates exceptional oxygen mass transfer coefficients (ka) of 680 h⁻¹, enabling high cell density cultivation exceeding OD₆₀₀ values of 280.

Optical dissolved oxygen sensors and Pt100 temperature probes ensure precise real-time monitoring, while the integrated exhaust cooling system manages the high metabolic heat generation characteristic of microbial processes.
