The German Cancer Society - "Through knowledge to life" The German Cancer Society (DKG) is the largest scientific oncology society in Germany, based in Frankfurt am Main. Its members are active in the field of cancer research and treatment. The German Cancer Society is divided into three sections: * Section A comprises the state societies, which are organized as independent associations in each federal state. * Section B is open to academics and members of non-academic professional groups who are active in the research, treatment and fight against cancer or would like to become active in the future. The members of Section B are organized in working groups. * Section C brings together those institutions that are committed to common goals as members of the DKG. The DKG has a total of around 6000 members. As cancer diseases are treated and researched across all disciplines, these include not only doctors from all medical specialty groups, but also basic researchers, medical-technical assistants, nursing staff, psychologists and other professional groups working on cancer. Companies such as the research-based pharmaceutical industry, scientific book publishers and health insurance companies are also important partners in tackling this joint task.
