About Dr. Jacobs Institut

The Dr. Jacob Institute and the Dr. Jacob family - passionate doctors in the third generation The passion for medical action and thinking goes back to Dr. med. Alois Jacob, whose brother Josef also worked as a doctor. Alois Jacob was awarded the Order of Maximilian, the highest Bavarian medical order, for rescue operations during the First World War. As the head physician of the hospital of Tauberbischofsheim he worked as a surgeon and at the same time as a resident doctor. He passed on his passion for medicine to his children: The oldest, Manfred Jacob, died as a medical officer candidate at the age of 18 in Russia. The second eldest, Prof. em. Dr. med. Ruthard Jacob, headed one of the two chairs of physiology in Tübingen for two decades with a research focus on nutritive and phytotherapeutic cardioprotection. The third oldest, Dr. med. Karl Otto Jacob (1931), worked for eight years as a scientific assistant under Prof. Wollheim at the University Hospital of Würzburg. After almost two years of additional psychiatric training, he managed a Kneipp sanatorium for 18 months before settling in Tauberbischofsheim as an internist and doctor for naturopathic treatment. During his more than 50 years of medical practice, he became increasingly aware of how much better and more effective it is to prevent than to cure. He passed this understanding on to his son, Dr. med. Ludwig Manfred Jacob (1971), who as a doctor is dedicated to complementary medicine research.
