Ambr® 250 High Throughput System

Multi-Parallel Bioreactor Technology for Accelerated Process Development

Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH

Accelerate development timelines while reducing laboratory resource requirements

Enable comprehensive process characterization with up to 24 parallel bioreactors

Optimize scale-down models with continuous gassing and integrated analytics

Streamline bioprocess characterization with automated high-throughput capabilities

The Ambr® 250 High Throughput Generation 2 represents a transformative approach to bioprocess development, enabling researchers to conduct extensive bioreactor experiments with unprecedented efficiency. This automated multi-parallel bioreactor system supports up to 24 single-use 250 mL vessels, providing the throughput needed for comprehensive process characterization, clone selection, and media optimization studies.

The system features a fully continuous gas supply configuration that closely matches large-scale bioreactor gassing patterns, enhancing the relevance of scale-down models for both fed-batch and intensified processes. Integrated BioPAT® Viamass capacitance measurement enables real-time biomass monitoring and feedback control, supporting advanced process control strategies typically reserved for larger-scale operations.

Advanced automation capabilities include liquid handling for precise reagent addition, integrated sampling systems, and comprehensive environmental control across all vessels. The redesigned software interface streamlines experimental setup and data management while providing enhanced data integrity support to meet regulatory requirements.

Applications span the complete bioprocess development workflow, from early-stage clone screening and media development through late-stage process characterization and scale-down model qualification. The system accommodates diverse culture types including suspension cultures, microcarrier-based systems, and microbial fermentation, making it suitable for both mammalian cell culture and microbial applications.

Temperature control ranges from 18-65°C with precise pH monitoring (±0.02 units) and dissolved oxygen measurement (±2% accuracy), ensuring optimal culture conditions across all vessels. Gas flow capabilities support both cell culture (Air/N₂, O₂, CO₂) and microbial (Air, N₂, O₂) configurations with flow rates up to 750 mL/min total sparged gas flow.

The platform integrates seamlessly with third-party analytical systems for comprehensive metabolite analysis and cell counting, while embedded cameras facilitate system monitoring and enhance process robustness. This comprehensive approach to parallel bioprocessing enables organizations to accelerate development timelines, reduce costs, and improve the quality of process characterization data.
