World Asthma Day

World Asthma Day is designed to increase awareness of asthma as a global health problem. In Dallas, they are showcasing DAC’s effort to unite the Dallas medical community to solve the problem of asthma and its impact on children and adults in the city. Each year in Dallas, 20 to 30 children die unnecessarily because of uncontrolled asthma. In the United States, more than 5,600 deaths per year are attributed to asthma. But, medical colleagues say that with proper treatment the majority of deaths from asthma can be prevented.

Asthma specialists in North America and Europe designated May 1 as World Asthma Day to highlight major advances in asthma diagnosis and treatment through the last decade.
