New Zealand Drug Foundation



The New Zealand Drug Foundation (established in 1989) is a public advocacy body which aims to prevent and reduce the harms caused by drugs in New Zealand. This includes social and health harms caused by legal drugs, such as tobacco and alcohol, as well as illegal drugs, such as cannabis.

The foundation hosts the Annual Parliamentary Drug Policy Roundtable for ministers, members of Parliament, senior government officials and alcohol and drug sector leaders. Roundtables have focussed in the past on issues such as alcohol policy, and drugs and young people

The youngest ever Executive Director of the New Zealand Drug Foundation was award winning journalist Chris Spence who was barely 26 years of age when he was appointed Executive Director in 1996.

The New Zealand Drug Foundation is based in Wellington , New Zealand.
