International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications

The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) is a small non-profit international organization that helps developing nations acquire useful biotechnology applications to help them address agricultural challenges. It manages several projects on agri-biotechnology. Some of the projects' funding agencies include the Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II, USDA, US Grains Council, and USAID.

ISAAA is involved in several initiatives on technology transfer, knowledge sharing, impact assessment, and capacity building. The organization is well known for its annual publication on the global status of biotech crops. The publication provides global trends on the adoption of major biotech crops since they were first planted commercially.

ISAAA operates three centers:

- ISAAA SEAsiaCenter is hosted by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines. This center also serves as the Global Coordination Office as well as the home of Global Knowledge Center on Crop Biotechnology (KC).

- ISAAA AfriCenter is located in Nairobi, Kenya and implements programs involving tissue culture of bananas and rapid propagation of multipurpose trees.

- ISAAA AmeriCenter is located in Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

ISAAA is being funded through the support of many private and public institutions worldwide.
