Brian Boxer Wachler



Dr. Brian S. Boxer Wachler is an American ophthalmologist. He practices refractive surgery (vision correction).

He is the Director of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute in Los Angeles, California. He is on staff at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Education

He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Psychobiology. While at UCLA, we rowed on the crew team for two years followed by two years on the national championship Speech and Debate Team. He was selected for the Rotary Foundation International Scholarship in Edinburgh University where he also rowed on the Scottish national championship crew team which culminated in competing in the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-Thames.

He received his M.D. degree from Dartmouth Medical School which was followed by ophthalmology residency at Saint Louis University Eye Institute and fellowship training in refractive surgery at University of Kansas Medical Center and Durrie Vision.

He is board certified.

Ophthalmology

Dr. Boxer Wachler is recognized as a pioneer in vision correction which includes LASIK, phakic intraocular lens (Visian ICL and Verisyse), presbyopia correction, and conductive keratoplasty.[citation needed] He is also known as a pioneer for keratoconus treatments which include Intacs, corneal collagen crosslinking with riboflavin (C3-R), and conductive keratoplasty. He has been honored with the Achievement Award and Secretariat Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as being voted into Best Doctors in America. He serves on the editorial advisory board of AllAboutVision, an objective provider of eye-related consumer information on the Internet.

Dr. Boxer Wachler has appeared on CNN, NBC News, CBS News, ABC News, and Fox News. He has also been featured in USA Today, Newsweek, Time, US News and World Report, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Shape, Fitness, and Women's Health.

Malpractice

Boxler is named in several internet message boards as having been sued several times for malpractice but the accuracy of the message boards cannot be confirmed. He has been sued at least once by laser vision correction patient.[1]
