BioBrick

BioBrick is an adjective used to describe standard biological parts. BioBrick standard biological parts are currently the only type of standard biological parts in existence, although the term is designed to be used to describe other types of standard biological parts in the future.

BioBrick standard biological parts adhere to a set of prescribed technical specifications for physical and functional composition. Although these specification details are still being worked out, the goal of the specification is to ensure that parts can be composed reliably.

The term BioBrick is currently being trademarked by the not-for-profit BioBricks Foundation.
