Amos Grunebaum

Amos Grunebaum (January 27, 1950 - present) is one of the top US obstetricians and gynecologists.[citation needed] His subspecialty is in maternal-fetal medicine, which is also known as "high-risk pregnancy".

Early life

Dr. Grunebaum was born on January 27, 1950 in Haifa, Israel. In 1953 his family moved to Cologne, Germany. He shares several common experiences with Gene Simmons: both were born in Haifa, Israel within months of each other, both moved in 1953 with their family from Israel, and both had a Jewish Hungarian mother who was the only member of her family to survive the Holocaust.

From 1956 to 1960, Dr. Grunebaum attended the Westerwaldschule in Cologne, Germany, then entered Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium[1] in Cologne in 1960 and attended medical school at University of Cologne in Germany from 1968 to 1975.

From 1978 to 1982 he did his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Downstate Medical Center, and the Kings County Hospital Medical Center[2] in Brooklyn, New York, and in 1984 he completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the same institution.

In 1994 Dr.Grunebaum appeared in his only Hollywood movie, The Paper by Ron Howard, where he played an obstetrician.

Dr. Grunebaum is presently the Director of Obstetrics and the Chief of Labor and Delivery at the Weill Cornell Medical Center which is part of the Weill Cornell Medical College and the New York Presbyterian Medical Center. Until 2005 he was also the Director of the WebMD Fertility Center and in charge of the WebMD TTC (Trying To Conceive) message board.

His BabyMed website[3] is one of the most popular websites for fertility and pregnancy with many million hits per months. Dr. Grunebaum also formulated the best-selling FertilAid Supplements[4] and co-wrote a book with Dr. Ruth Westheimer called "Dr. Ruth's Guide to Sex During Pregnancy".
