About BioTek

BioTek Instruments, Inc., is a global leader in the development, manufacture and sale of microplate instrumentation and software used to aid in the advancement of life science research and to facilitate the drug discovery process. Our instrumentation provides rapid and cost-effective analysis to enable sensitive and accurate quantification of a wide range of molecules across diverse applications.

Who We Are, Where We’re Going Dr. Norman Alpert, an internationally recognized expert in the area of cardiac hypertrophy and energetics, founded BioTek almost half a century ago while serving as Professor and Chair of the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Vermont. As the company grew, Dr. Alpert recognized the potential for microplate-based assays in life science markets, and consequently, BioTek introduced its first microplate reader in 1981.

The World is Our Market, But Vermont Is Our Home BioTek culture is unique; we’re as passionate about Vermont as we are about microplate instrumentation. Our headquarters, including manufacturing, research & development, and scientific applications are located in beautiful northern Vermont, and our employees are proud BioTekkers and Vermonters! Each BioTekker is encouraged to contribute their opinions and ideas at work, and also encouraged and rewarded to participate in local community programs. It’s empowerments like these, and other mindful perks, that keep BioTek employees loyal to BioTek much longer than industry or state averages. As such, BioTek has received several community-based awards.
