BioCon Valley Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.

The BioCon Valley Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V. association was founded in April 2001 on the initiative of entrepreneurs, researchers, local authorities and private individuals to promote the networking of experts from industry and science in the region. The purpose of the association is to promote and organize research and development in the life sciences (e.g. biotechnology, biomedicine, medical technology) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and cooperation with other regions, particularly in the Baltic Sea region. According to the statutes, the purpose of the association is realized in particular by Stimulating impulses for basic research and applied research arranging cooperation informing members and the public about the results of biotechnological research organizing and holding national and international events on biotechnological topics The current 130 members of the association represent the entire spectrum of the life sciences, from biotechnology companies to healthcare facilities and research institutions. In accordance with the principle of public-private partnership, the association is a shareholder of BioCon Valley® GmbH. Other shareholders include the state government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and several banks.
