Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (GMDS) e.V.

The General Assembly regulates all fundamental matters of the company and meets once a year. The President manages the day-to-day business of the company. The Presidium's field of activity includes scientific and health policy tasks. The Advisory Board consists of, among others, the members of the Executive Committee and the heads of the working groups, working parties, commissions and specialist departments. It decides on the rules of procedure and the scientific focus of work and defines general topics for conferences. In order to carry out its tasks, the GMDS is divided into the thematically oriented divisions and the sections. The aforementioned departments "Medical Informatics", "Medical Biometry" and "Epidemiology" are responsible for the specialist work and are each headed by a specialist. The departments are divided into specialist committees and working groups. These have a predominantly methodological focus. They are interdisciplinary in terms of medical specialties. The project groups are set up by the specialist committees for specific, time-limited sub-tasks. The working groups have the task of linking the subject areas represented in the GMDS with the various medical specialties. The section also enables people without a scientific university degree to work within the GMDS. To manage the extensive organizational tasks, an office based in Cologne was established and a managing director appointed.
