Resolute® BioSMB PD

The Resolute® BioSMB PD system represents the first disposable flow path, continuous multicolumn chromatography solution designed for biopharmaceutical process development laboratories. This innovative platform enables seamless conversion from traditional batch chromatography to continuous operation without modifications to existing chromatographic media, buffers, or product critical quality attributes.

The system's patented single-use valve cassette technology eliminates complex cleaning validation processes while maintaining process consistency across all scales from development through clinical and full production manufacturing. Unlike traditional batch processing that typically utilizes only 50% to 70% of column binding capacity, the Resolute® BioSMB PD exploits substantially smaller, interconnected columns to achieve near-equilibrium binding capacity utilization.

Standard applications include bind/elute chromatography such as Protein A affinity, ion exchange, mixed mode, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography, as well as flow-through applications including size exclusion and ion exchange polishing. The open platform architecture accommodates packed-bed chromatography, membrane chromatography, monoliths, and expanded bed adsorption technologies.

Key technical specifications include flow rates up to 100 mL/min with the 3 mm cassette, maximum operating pressure of 10 bar, and comprehensive sensor integration featuring four dual wavelength UV sensors, pH monitoring, conductivity measurement, and pressure sensing. Seven automated stepper motor pumps with PEEK fluid paths ensure precise fluid delivery throughout the process.

The system's compact footprint of 155 × 81 × 61 cm accommodates laboratory environments while providing the scalability foundation for future manufacturing implementation. Process consistency across the entire Resolute® BioSMB platform ensures reliable technology transfer from process development through commercial production.
