Surgeon General can have several different meanings.

In the United States:

In the United Kingdom:

  • The Surgeon-General is the senior medical officer of the British Armed Forces; the post is held by the senior of the three individual service medical directors.
  • The British equivalent of the Surgeon General of the United States is the Chief Medical Officer, United Kingdom.

In the Republic of Ireland:

  • The Republic of Ireland equivalent of the Surgeon General of the United States is the Chief Medical Officer, Republic of Ireland.
