Phialide



Phialide (fi´ə-līd) [Gr. phialis, diminuitive of phiale, a broad, flat vessel]

  • A flask-shaped projection from the conidiophore of certain fungi.
  • Projects from the mycelium without increasing in length without a subsequent increase in the formation of conidia.

Also known as the end cell of a phialophore.
