Order 81

Order 81 is one of the most controversial of Paul Bremer's 100 Orders, issued during the reconstruction of Iraq following the invasion of Iraq by United States in 2003. The order prohibits Iraqi farmers from using the methods of agriculture that they have used for centuries.[citation needed] The common worldwide practice of saving heirloom seeds from one year to the next is now essentially illegal in Iraq.[citation needed]
