Overview of academics

NCNM has two schools: The School of Naturopathic Medicine and the School of Classical Chinese Medicine. It offers two professional graduate degree programs: The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and the Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. Both four year programs include extensive preparation and clinical practice in the art of holistic healing. The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and the Master of Science in Oriental Medicine programs are fully accredited programs.[1][2]

The Naturopathic College's Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine is a four-year program that trains students to become holistic primary care physicians, while preparing graduates to sit for board examinations in states and provinces that license NDs (naturopathic physicians). The ND program emphasizes a distinctive approach to health and healing — an approach that considers the whole person when treating specific conditions, and one that seeks to diagnose and treat the causes of the patients adaptive physiology. Naturopathic medicine is heir to the vitalistic tradition of medicine in the Western world. This is evidenced by its emphasis in treating disease through the stimulation, enhancement, and support of the inherent healing power of the body. Chosen methods of treatment respect this natural healing process.
