Medical Mycology

Medical Mycology is one of the oldest medical journals specialized in fungal diseases of humans and animals. It is the official journal of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM),[1] and is published bi-monthly by Informa Healthcare, London.[2]

It was founded in 1961 initially as Sabouraudia, but underwent a name change to Journal of Medical and Veterinary Mycology from 1986-1997. The current name was introduced in 1998. [1]

The present Editor-in-Chief (as of 2007) is Dr. Ira Salkin.[2] The journal provides an international forum for original and review articles on the diagnosis, treatment, immunology, molecular biology and epidemiology of invasive and allergically mediated fungal diseases of humans and animals, as well as the biosystematics, ecology, and genomics of the fungi causing these diseases.

According to the ISI Journal Citation Report, the journal's Impact factor for 2006 is 2.005[3].
