Kohs block

The Kohs block design is a performance test to measure intelligence. The test consists of 16 colored cubes and 17 cards with colored designs, which the subject is supposed to duplicate by using the blocks. Because the instructions are easy to give and easy to understand, the test was designed so it could be given in pantomime, therefore making it especially valuable for testing those with language or hearing handicaps, or individuals speaking a different language than the administrator of the test.

The test was fleshed out by sociologist Samuel C. Kohs, around 1923, building on earlier and similar designs.
