Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs



The Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles on various aspects of the use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs. The topics that the journal covers include the biological, medical, epidemiological, social, psychological, and legal aspects of alcohol and drug use, abuse, and dependence. The journal publishes issues six times a year (January, March, May, July, September, and November) and is online at www.jsad.com.

The Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs originally began in 1940 as the Quarterly Journal of Studies on Alcohol. In 1975, the publication changed its name to the Journal of Studies on Alcohol, and it became a monthly publication. The year 1983 saw a switch from monthly to bimonthly publication. As of 2007, the journal became known as the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs. Also, at this time, the publication became available online to current subscribers, who have access to the full text of the journal and its archives dating back to 1990.
