The First Kachin Scientist

George Zunwa was born in 1972 in a small village, the Triangle Land of Mali and Nmai rivers, Kachin State, Myanmar (Burma). He did primary school in his village and middle and high school in N-gum La or N-gumla High School. He was selected by the KIO in 1989 to study abroad to West Germany. He and other twelve colleages walked from N-gum La to India on foot that took them three months to reach. He is the first Kachin boy, who got the highest education and returned to the KIO.

George Zunwa Got several sport trohpies and many titles in his University. He also was involved in KIO's Maden Column Operation in Indo-Burma border in 1992. He took responsibility on Indo-Kachin affairs during 1994 and appointed as acting officer in New Delhi for the Representative Office of Kachin Affairs (ROKA) between 1997-2003.

George Zunwa published a book on Vegetable Crops Simaw Simai Hkai Nmai Ni in Jinghpaw language as the youngest author in a scietific way so far and a Classic Jinghpaw Poem Jinghpaw Ga Shingni in 2006. He also have written many articles on social, political, cultural, organizational, educational and strategic issues.

George Zunwa also had secret contact with Mr Rajiv Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India with late Mr Maran Brang Seng, former Chairman of the KIO, and General Khin Nyunt, former Prime Minister of Union of Myanmar (Burma) from overseas and tried to make political changes in Myanmar as well as tried to change KIO structure in 2001.

He had also contact with Cabinet Secretriate of Indian government. He is the youngest and the only first Kachin boy, who has done many things in Kachin History. Research Works including uranium and biological agents by George Zunwa are still unclear.
