Fung Hong

Dr Fung Hong (Traditional Chinese:馮康) is a chief executive of the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin, Hong Kong. He is also a "Cluster Chief Executive" in the Hospital Authority responsible for New Territories West.

Corpse Mix-up

On 11 April 2007, it was revealed that there had been a mix-up of 2 deceased bodies by mortuary staff at the Prince of Wales Hospital on 29 March 2007.^[1][2][3]

• Whilst being interviewed on RTHK Radio 1's HK2000 phone-in programme on 12 April 2007, and under questioning by radio host Robert Chow, Fung allegedly admitted he could not accept the practice of positioning 2 corpses in a single mortuary refrigerator box.
  
• When asked how he could accept the placing of 2 corpses in a single mortuary refrigerator box, Fung allegedly explained that there was enough spare room for a second body.
• Fung allegedly evaded Chow's blame by insisting that the root of the problem lied elsewhere, namely the government-operated crematorium.
• Fung denied when asked if there had been a lack of financial resources and support coming from the HA or the HWFB.
• When pointed out by another host Jace Au that he had been confusing one issue with another; namely, the collection of the body with the issue they had been discussing all along - 2 corpses in a single refrigerator box; Fung allegedly responded it was not reasonable to discuss the 2 issues separately.
• When asked what the HA as a whole has carried out so far to alleviate this problem, Fung allegedly admitted that there had been infrastructure constraints at Prince of Wales Hospital and was not able to divulge on anything that had been done.^[4]
