Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine



The Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine is one of the eight podiatric medical schools in the U.S. located at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. The school was founded in 1985 as the first podiatric medical college to be part of a major university. Since its inception, several other podiatic medical colleges have followed the Barry model becoming affiliated with major universities such as: Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University, and California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt College. Also, several podiatry schools established after The Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, such as the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University and the Podiatric Medicine Program at Midwestern University were established as part of pre-existing medical universities.


Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine has graduated more than 900 podiatric physicians since its inception in 1985 and is currently in the process of construction for a new medical sciences facility at Barry University. The school has affiliations with such Miami hospitals as: Mercy Hospital, DVA Miami, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The Dean of the School is Chet Evans, DPM.
