American Lung Association of New York State

Since 1884, the American Lung Association of New York State (ALANYS) has worked tirelessly to promote lung health and prevent lung disease across New York State. The premier lung health resource in New York State, the Lung Association helps to protect and educate over ten million New Yorkers across 57 counties.

The acknowledged authority on asthma information, programs and education, ALANYS sits at the forefront on tobacco and environmental health issues. The Lung Association accomplishes its crucial mission through extensive advocacy efforts and dynamic programs which reach government, business, the health care and science communities along with young people and adults.

Among its many successes, ALANYS has instituted smoking prevention and cessation programs, along with improving the state government standards for indoor and outdoor air quality. Moreover, the Lung Association funds vital research on the causes of and treatments for lung disease.

Dedicated to helping all New Yorkers breathe easier, ALANYS works closely with the American Lung Association of the City of New York to serve the entire state through education, public health advocacy and research.

With the generous support of the public, the American Lung Association is “Improving life, one breath at a time.”
