Employing the country’s first graduates in marine biotechnology, the company specifically specialises in the discovery, isolation & culture of marine microbes from the diverse UK coast line & beyond. These bacteria & other microbes are valuable new sources of pharmaceutical compounds, such as antibiotics against multi-drug resistant infections and biologically derived industrial products.

Aquapharm’s core focus is to discover and develop antibiotics that target Gram positive and negative multi drug resistant infections. In addition, the company also develops high yield production systems of carotenoid pigments and makes available its library to interested third parties for bespoke screening.
