Turning Water into Graphs - An Integrated Microfluidic Capillary Electrophoresis System

Additional information

With its new 2007 catalogue microfluidic ChipShop introduces ChipGenie® edition E. This novel lab-on-a-chip-based capillary electrophoresis system detects charged species in fluids via contactless conductivity measurement.

Originally developed for the wine industry to perform quality control measurements and evaluated for a range of other food stuffs, ChipGenie® edition E is readily adaptable to the analysis of water – from wastewater treatment to household heating circuits. It features a rugged and portable casing and connects via a single USB port to a notebook or personal computer that serves both as control unit and power supply.

The system utilizes disposable polymer-chip devices with the respective separation channel and detecting electrodes. The chips provide the reservoirs for the required application-optimized buffers and the easy introduction of the sample. Taking full advantage of the underlying microfluidic principles, the actual analysis is performed in less than two minutes: Carrying out a single measurement is as easy as introducing a small amount of sample (70µl) into the chip, closing the lid, and clicking a button via the software interface.

For further information regarding this system or its adaptation to your specific requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us. For our full range of off-the-shelf microfluidic products please refer to our website.
