Another wall falls - this time between LIMS and ELN
Limsophy integrates LIMS and ELN

Additional information

Laboratories that use a LIMS (laboratory information management system) and an ELN (electronic laboratory notebook) learn that artificial walls impair daily work.

  • A LIMS is designed to store data in a highly structured manner.
  • An ELN is designed for unstructured data storage.

If the two systems with different basic concepts are available for the documentation of laboratory activities, then laboratory employee must ask themselves for every activity, "Should I archive the data in the LIMS or the ELN?" The same question arises when searching for information. The information must be searched for on both sides of the wall, i.e. in the LIMS and the ELN.

At the 2nd annual ELN forum in Munich, Germany, it became apparent that Limsophy is the first commercially available product to offer LIMS and ELN in an integrated solution.

As a user, you benefit from the following advantages:

  • Use the most practical storage option for your data for each laboratory activity
  • Select the degree of structuring of your data storage yourself
  • Load all LIMS samples and ELN experiment reports of a product at the press of a button
  • Your information is stored evolutionary and is always in the correct context
  • Link small production series to your R+D activity
  • Document R+D activities that originate in production
  • Search for and locate the information in just one system
  • The independent search combination of full text and database search supplies exact results
  • You find not only the haystack, but also precisely the needle you're looking for!

Example 1
An R+D laboratory conducts experiments as part of projects. The logs are written in the ELN. The results are encouraging and the project manager wants to produce a product in an extremely small series. The batch results are documented in the integrated LIMS and the samples are assigned to the specified research project. When the project manager loads all project data, he/she will then find the experiment reports and the results with the used SOPs of the produced samples. The integrated Limsophy solution shows the project manager all information in the correct context.

Example 2
Use of Limsophy as an ERP for the service laboratory. In addition to classical analysis, the laboratory also offers the conducting of inspections and audits. In the process, sometimes jobs only consist of chemical analysis, only of auditing or of both. In the latter case, the user utilizes the ability of the integrated Limsophy solution to obtain the expertise at the press of a button. The expertise that is written in the ELN automatically integrates, for example, the related sample reports at the desired location. Of course, it goes without saying that the entire job can be invoiced automatically.

Yes, I would like the vendor to send me additional information about this product.
