Intercell receives The Vaccine Industry Excellence Award
Intercells Hepatitis C vaccine candidate was awarded in the category of Best New Therapeutic Vaccine at the World Vaccine Congress

28 Apr 2008 - In the course of the World Vaccine Congress in Washington D.C., USA, Intercell was awarded The Vaccine Industry Excellence Award in the category Best New Therapeutic Vaccine for its therapeutic Hepatitis C (HCV) vaccine candidate.

Earlier this year, Intercells therapeutic vaccine candidate against HCV successfully concluded Phase II clinical trials. The novel vaccine is designed to stimulate Tcell responses against viral protein structures conserved throughout the major HCV genotypes in order to reduce viral load in the blood of chronically infected patients.

We are pleased to receive this award for our novel therapeutic Hepatitis C vaccine. The latest Phase II data provides a strong base to further strengthen our Hepatitis C franchise and to accelerate our efforts towards a most valuable potential component in a combination treatment for HCV, stated Alexander von Gabain, Chief Scientific Officer of Intercell. To improve and accelerate the development of a therapeutic Hepatitis C vaccine, Intercell and its partner Novartis will take advantage of an enlarged antigen portfolio and of IC31®, Intercell's secondgeneration adjuvant.
