MediGene Extends Protection for its EndoTAG Technology by Another European PatentPatent opens up additional potential for the commercialization of the EndoTAG platform-technology04 Apr 2008 - MediGene AG announced that the European Patent Office has granted a patent on the EndoTAG® technology which covers certain cationic liposomal compositions containing cytotoxic agents. The patent portfolio hence protects the substance EndoTAG®-1 developed by MediGene as a drug for the treatment of various types of cancer, and extends the protection to EndoTAG® compositions with various active agents for the combat against cancer as well as other diseases. MediGene recently achieved excellent efficacy data in a phase II trial of the drug candidate EndoTAG®-1 in the indication pancreatic cancer, verifying the mode of action of EndoTAG®.Dr. Peter Heinrich, Chief Executive Officer of MediGene AG, comments: "The newly granted patent significantly extends the existing patent protection for our EndoTAG® technology, and enhances our strong position in Europe and the USA regarding EndoTAG®. EP 1 014 945 from the University of California, San Francisco, USA, along with numerous other patents for the protection of EndoTAG®-1.
