Ariëns Award 2006 for molecular pharmacologist Professor Graeme Milligan

25 Sep 2006 - On Wednesday, September 27, 2006, the Ariëns Award 2006 will be presented to Professor Graeme Milligan, who is affiliated with Glasgow University in Scotland. Professor Milligan will receive the Award in recognition of his impressive scientific achievements in the field of molecular pharmacology.

 
In his work, Milligan addresses not only the question of what happens inside a cell, he also studies typical pharmacological issues surrounding ligand-receptor interactions. This makes his work a logical continuation of the receptor research conducted by Ariëns. In addition to scores of scientific publications, Professor Milligan also holds a several consulting positions advising pharmaceutical companies and institutes.
 
The Ariëns Award is an honorary award set up by the Dutch Pharmacology Society (NVF) and named after one of the founders of pharmacology. The members of the NVF vote to award the prize to a scientist who has made a substantial contribution to pharmacology.
