Oxoid acquires Dako's Microbiology business

21 Sep 2006 - Oxoid, a business unit within the Fisher Biosciences group, has acquired Dako's Microbiology business. The purchase expands Oxoid's range of clinical microbiology products for the detection of viral gastroenteritis, sexually transmitted diseases, respiratory diseases, Lyme disease and Helicobacter pylori, which is supplemented by a range of specialist ELISA tests for veterinary use.

 
From September 1, 2006 Dako's microbiology range will gradually be rebranded as Oxoid and products should be ordered via Oxoid's headquarters in Basingstoke, UK or through Oxoid's local sales offices. Oxoid will continue to manufacture the products in Ely, Cambridgeshire (UK). OEM customers will continue to be serviced from the Ely site. The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
